New Catfish Record!

  • King Salmon Record
    Harry Stoner of Stockton broke the nearly-three year-old salmon record by .2 pounds with this 6.2 pound catch on February 28 of 2010.
  • Largemouth Bass Record
    The second Los Vaqueros fishing record of 2008 was broken on Thursday, May 29 when Todd Brusco of Danville smashed the old mark by more than two pounds. Todd Brusco’s 12 pound catch was 2.21 pounds heavier than the old record set last year by Eric Sabye.
  • Striped Bass Record
    Todd Brusco of Danville became the first person ever to hold two simultaneous fishing records at Los Vaqueros when he caught a 45.2 pound striper.
  • Trout Record
    For the second time in about a month, the trout fishing record was smashed at Los Vaqueros, this time by 2.7 pounds. Fernando Gonzalez of San Lorenzo caught his 16.42 pound trout with a gold Kastmaster, in South Cove.
  • Catfish Record
    The catfish record is held by the youngest record-holder at Los Vaqueros

For the second time in about a month, the trout fishing record was smashed at Los Vaqueros, this time by 2.7 pounds.  Fernando Gonzalez of San Lorenzo caught his 16.42 pound trout with a gold Kastmaster, in South Cove on January 24, 2015.

It was just on December 20, 2014 that David Bixler of San Jose brought home his record 13.72 pound trout to break the old record by more than a half-pound, also with a Kastmaster. It was the first fishing record set at the expanded reservoir.

Seven-year-old Alec Michaels of Livermore broke the catfish record at Los Vaqueros with a 30.31 pound catch. It was the last record set at the original 100.000 acre-foot reservoir and was set shortly after construction began.

It’s the second time the catfish record fell in 2011 and breaks the nearly two-month-old mark of 29.09 pounds held by Van Pham of San Leandro.

Alec and his father were fishing from shore, south of the boat docks, with an anchovy when they reeled in the monster. They are regular anglers at Los Vaqueros.

The 2nd Los Vaqueros fishing record of 2008 was broken on Thursday, May 29 when Todd Brusco of Danville, CA smashed the old mark by more than 2 pounds.

Brusco’s 12-pound catch was 2.21 pounds heavier than the old record set last year by Eric Sabye.

Todd Brusco of Danville became the first person ever to hold 2 simultaneous fishing records at LV when he caught a 45.2 pound striper.That’s the largest fish at the reservoir by 16.53 pounds,
and the largest striper ever caught by more than 20 pounds. It also breaks CCWD employee John Howard’s striper record.

Todd was trolling as he was coming back to the Marina (after catching a limit of trout) in an electric rental boat when the monster bit on his Rapalla lure. It took him 90 minutes to land the fish. He was fishing with 12-pound line.

Todd also owns the largemouth bass record with a 12 pounder caught the previous year. Stripers have never been planted at Los Vaqueros.
